Weekend in the Manor!

Just a quick life update!

On Wednesday my Theatre class took a coach to London to see a performance called Fuerzabruta! IT WAS AMAZING!!! Seriously I have never been to such an incredible show. At the start of the show you are led into the theatre which is just an open space on the main level and from there the show starts, there are musicians drumming, singing, and dancing all while areialist are swinging above you. The show mainly happens above you or amongst you in the crowd, all while the staff moves you around . I can't even explain how awesome it was... Just see it if you ever have the chance.

We also visited the Victoria and Albert museum so that was awesome.

On Friday I spent the day with my host family. The open markets in Stamford with my host father, Richard in the morning. Met Dr. Xanthe Wells, their daughter for coffee and a walk around the Rutland reservoir with her collie sheep dog, chase! Then for a late lunch we went to a place Richard and Ernistine like to eat, The Black Horse Inn where I finally had STEAK PIE!!! I also didn't have much of a choice "young ladies need to eat red meet so you must order red meat" .. thanks mom
Long story short it was just as good as James and Sharon had told me before so now thats all I can think about ugh steak pie so good.

Other than that I went out into Grantham yesterday to figured out the Royal Mail system and to have a bite to eat at a local organic deli, and then back out last night with a small group of friends which was fun! On the way home our taxi got pulled over for being over capacity ..not our fault.. the police were extremely nice, but insisted that one of the girls ride with them to the manor. Apparently asking about Kool aide on the way.. haha weird. The manor drive is full of cameras so we had a little explaining to do when the security guard saw us pulling up with the police oopsie.. at least we weren't in trouble

Well on to this week! I am looking forward to getting a package or two that didn't arrive last week! Also I have a British Studies quiz Monday and our first exam Wednesday! So think of me while I over load on British studies this week. As a reward its our first "long weekend" so we don't have class Thursday or Friday which means we are going to IRELANDDDDD (maybe)!!!! Seriously can't wait

Lincoln, York, Life

Hello my fellow Americans!

This past week and weekend were really busy!

On Thursday I met my host family, Mr. Richard and Ernistine Wells!
They are a lovely couple who have two grown children, and have been participating in the Meet a Family program for a few years now. I look forward to getting to know them and spending more time with them.

On Friday the whole school went on a trip to Lincoln for British Studies! Lincoln is a beautiful little town full of character, but we chose the worlds worst day to go! The majority of our day was spent outside touring the town, and of course all of the historical monuments and such. Unfortunately it was one of the coldest days we have had so far, pouring freezing rain, and super super windy... not my favorite. To brighten our day we stopped in every chocolate shop to buy one piece of chocolate or fudge.. best decision I ever made I'm still having dreams about the strawberry champagne fudge I had..

Saturday, I went on a day trip to York where I visited the Viking Museum, (Which was awesome) and saw a pantomime show at the York Royal Theatre. (Pantomimes are a tradition in the UK) It was interesting to say the least, the show is full of silly singing, dancing, and crazy costumes all while following a plot to a fairy tale which just so happened to be Aladdin. Pantos are unlike any other production, they wouldn't be able to function without a vocal audience and each show is different depending on how the audience reacts. As an audience member you will be asked to shout when the villain comes on stage, sing along to really silly songs, and much more. Also during the shows they make  a lot of local jokes, or references to popular music. It was pretty entertaining.

Today, It didn't rain... I think England is confused

Tomorrow I will be heading to London after class to see a show for my theatre class called "Fuerzabruta" you stand the whole time and move around..  I recommend you look it up... its crazy

Friday I will be spending the day with my host family which I am looking forward to although I don't think they know what to do with me because I am so laid back and not picky at all which is a change from past students.
Other than that I am staying at the manor this weekend which I may or may not be regretting but I will be fine...

I am tentatively heading to Ireland next weekend, for our first long weekend!!!! I can't wait although traveling on valentines day anywhere is stupidly expensive.. so thanks a lot Love Birds!!!
